Just now, I was looking through YOUTUBE, but a thing that made me mad happened. A Russian Player copied my level 9-1, 9-2 and 9-3 in FSW by using MW2.5 and send a video to the u2b. You know, copying others' works is an impolite thing. I hope you can understand what my feeling is now. Sorry for my madness. Now what I really want to say is not punishing him but how to understand this behavior. Sometimes copying doesn't just mean the maker hates you. Maybe he/she likes your levels so much. We often think whoever copies others' works, this person should be punished. But change the place, please. Why should we just hope to punish this copy-cat? We should find out if this person is a new hand or an old driver(it means the old maker) If he/she is a new hand and he can hardly make his original levels, we should remind him/her of the bad side of copying and give him/her a chance to correct his mistake. If this person is an old driver and he can make his/her original game easily, there will be two reasons. One is that he/she copied by mstake or by accident but he/she didn't really want to do like this. Then this person need to correct the mistake. The other is that he/she wanted to copy these games so he/she did it. It's neither polite nor respectful, and this person need to pay the price for what this person have done.
What do you think of this behavior? Please post below.

Unfortunely it has happened again :-(
I can only imagine how you feel now :-(
I think we should fight for our rights, but not in terms of hate. Maybe we should write to him on YouTube to stop making copycats. If it won't work we could report him or comment his videos with original levels.

Funnily enough I'm certainly the most copied by that breacher, althought being one of the most unknown makers around. Ksssh, not really useful ... Anyway, we can't do nothing right now, moreover he's kinda determined to keep his mimic products
Okay, just kidding. I'm Half-Russian myself so I shouldn't be saying that. (Also, there's always a chance he's Ukrainian or something, since his family name doesn't sound very Russian to me if that's even his real name.) Anyway, I do get how you feel. It's infuriating to have put so much precious time into your works only to find out later someone else is being a lazy and is copying your property. However, you should consider that all these years since 2004 the whole Mario Forever series has gone into public domain (sort of), which means it doesn't belong to any specific owner (except Nintendo, since they created the mascot Mario and all right belong to that company, actually).
Does that make copycats any more acceptable, though? Actually, no, it doesn't. At least, not a lot. But still, there could be a reason for why he's doing something like that. Maybe he's just not that creative himself? And seeing those things are popular motivates him two use that as a blueprint (even though it ends up looking awfully similar to the original)?
Okay, I wouldn't like my things being copied either (except the World of Maze, since I don't like that work myself when looking back at it) and I don't encourage it either, but there's not much wrong with that either. It's not your problem your world gets copied. It's the problem of the one that's copying. And even then it doesn't match up with the style of the original work. I mean, I'm always trying to copy Nintendo's style when designing my own stages, and I'm always failing at it because it ends up being too bland. I can say that it's hard to pull off.
Just look at the bright side and consider the copycat not as good (actually, no, even worse) than the original.
Also, I want you to think about this: Nintendo created Mario back in the 80s, Michal Gdaniec made Mario Forever in 2004 and we keep making "MF productions" to date. Aren't we kinda copying Gdaniec's work?
And actually, can someone maybe put the video in this thread? Because I'm saying all this but I haven't seen that video yet, actually.

Your speech is pretty meaningfull, no need to take a scythe to arrange it. Nevertheless, you missed something. Something that can be very hard to predict, I shall admit it. It's true that almost every copy can't be much better than the original, how matter you are adding things to give this impression. However, in the case that this copycat has more "influence" ( I mean specifically more popularity, or even just most visible than the creator ), it becomes an issue. It would went worse if the situation persist. I mean that someday, when this creator just want to bring up his/her projects in public, or just at any moment by chance, this person would be considered at his/her own copycat.
In this case, according to me, it's not just about the game you are using, the levels you have copied / which was copied. Hu hu hu ... You all know what I mean
Whatever it be, some people would got mad as hell, whereas some would just ignore all of this, which is part of maturity in sort way. But even mature persons can reach their limits by seing someone who always has a step ahead because he/she got used to steal. It WILL be very irritating when money is on the top ...
Yosh, hope everything is understandable. I did not had the intention to break your broad-minded explanation, Mii-chan ( Uh-huh I haven't forgot that ! ). Anyway, if it really did that effect ( Héhé I don't think so by the way ... ), "sumimasen" in advance. At least, you reminded me to try to enlight the difficult topics.
Oh, ehm, everything above applies when the copycat in question consciously steals everything in detail ( A whole level ) with the same tools ( A MF editor or engine )
