For a while now, I haven't been active on this forum. So, where have I been? Quite recently I have been trying some different stuff, and out of those things, I have been hacking my Nintendo 3DS systems. Here is where I have been recently: gbatemp.net/I have been working on some application related with the 3DS, one of them is an actual application, the other one is just a toolkit I doubt that any of you care anything about 3ds hacking, if you do however, you can check my profile here: gbatemp.net/members/themachinumps.404064/and some threads I have posted: The Application (made in c#)The Toolkit (made with batch)I haven't been interested in working on MF related stuff, but I will still be here to look for new stuff. Some extra details: I have 2 3DS Systems - 1 Old 3DS and 1 2DS Both of them have Custom Firmware (CFW), which allows me to edit files in the console (which could be dangerous if not done carefully), backup my entire console (NAND), dump game cartridges to then install them on my console (Legit game copies, not pirated ones), etc. The Old 3DS has firmware (version) 11.2.0-35E (the most recent firmware that was exploitable) and the 2DS has firmware 11.3.0-36E (I updated it after installing CFW, otherwise I would not be able to have CFW). Hacking is not just related to bad things. I'm essentially modding my own consoles (that I bought with my money) with the risk of possibly breaking them. I also bought all of the games I own, I do not pirate games that I never owned! (If I did do so, I definitively deleted it)

Well, you're not really the only one. I'm in NSMB hacking since 2006, although I've left it since 2011 for zero motivation and focusing on other things like Mario Worker and New Super Fusion Bros. (an ugly and abandoned project of mines), but I've picked them in the hand recently (you can watch my last videos if you're interested). You're right, hacking isn't bad, although I usually use terms like "mod" and "custom stuff", because I feel that these are cleaner terms, just me. I've always liked custom stuff from Mario games, so I fully support mods. Keep your work up!

I've always liked custom stuff from Mario games, so I fully support mods. Keep your work up! Thanks! Modding 3DS games is harder however, so games like New Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Land, and such are harder to mod (I currently don't know how to actually do it, if it can be done) The only thing I can really change in a game is usually the textures, 3D models, musics and sound effects. I actually mod Pokemon games using tools such as Ohana3DS and GIMP to edit textures, PK3DS to edit encounter tables, trainers' Pokemons, etc, a BCSTM converter and Audacity to edit and convert musics to files that work, a BCWAV converter (which isn't easily available as it contains copyrighted code by Nintendo) and Audacity (again) to edit and convert sound effect files. There's a lot when it comes to modding games, specially about the fact that it's all done in Hardware for accurate gameplay (and because I can). If the game's patch freezes the game, then I have to rebuild everything, which can take a long time as, usually, 3ds games are massive games (the game with the smallest size I have is Mario Tenis Open, and that has a size of almost 300MB), specially Pokemon games. Those games take up around 1.7GB to 3GB! So yeah, 3DS Hacking is a completely different story. I'm not saying that DS Hacks/Mods aren't hard to make, specially if you're trying to run on hardware, in which case it would take an R4 card or such. But, since there exists a great amount of emulators for the Nintendo DS, and the games aren't as heavy as 3ds games, and there exists tools for specific titles, I would say it's easier to make mods. Oh, and because DS games aren't encrypted in any way, shape or form, while as 3DS games have tons of encryption layers which just makes it all take a whole ton longer.

I always wanted to play Pokemon sun and moon... I think the 3Ds hacking you do enables that right? Is there a way to play it?

I always wanted to play Pokemon sun and moon... I think the 3Ds hacking you do enables that right? Is there a way to play it? Well, I know you can hack the Wii by using Homebrew and then download the games from the internet by using an external harddrive (this counts as piracy, though), so I think there must be a way for the 3DS to do that as well (of course with other apps and programmes, of course). I think you can find something on YouTube if you're interested in it.

I always wanted to play Pokemon sun and moon... I think the 3Ds hacking you do enables that right? Is there a way to play it? Well, you can only do that if you have A9LH (short for Arm9LoaderHax), but that counts as piracy. I prefer buying the games myself (I bought both in November, close to the release date), as it helps support Nintendo. If you want to get A9LH, make sure you don't have Firmware 11.3.0 (You can see your version on the system settings, located in bottom left corner of the top screen), and that you follow this guide: 3ds.guide, and make sure to follow EVERY step and read everything in the page, or your console could brick (break your console, only repairable if you have an hardmodded 3ds, which requires you to modify your console's hardware, and only works for soft and hard bricks, as in software and hardware, not MCU bricks, as those are unrepairable). I wouldn't recommend doing it if you want to just get games for free, as not only do they take up a lot of space in your SD card, as it could be quite risky to have it. I recommend an SD card of 16GB in case you want to, but you could always go for a bigger size. Oh, and NEVER watch video tutorials, those could be outdated and cause you an unexpected brick. NOTE: Only install A9LH if you are confident of doing it. You can always check that GBA-Temp forum for help, in case you need it.

NEVER watch video tutorials, those could be outdated and cause you an unexpected brick. In those cases you just have to look at the date of when it was uploaded. But never mind, maybe there's another way if there's not enough memory (left) on your card? What do you think?
